A library built for discovery

What a multi-format AI reference can teach us about navigation and wayfinding.

Separate the resource types

The reference groups material such as patterns, teardowns, guides, prompts, and skills under recognizable names. This gives visitors different starting points: learning an interaction, inspecting a product, or taking an instruction into their own work.

Make the next step predictable

A category label helps set an expectation for what opens. A pattern should explain when to use an approach; a teardown should show the specific decision being examined; a prompt should make its input and output clear.

Consistency matters more than adding every possible category. When two labels repeatedly return the same material, explain the distinction or simplify the navigation.

Avoid copying the catalog blindly

A new library has less material than an established one. Empty sections and invented resource counts create work for visitors. Publish a smaller useful collection and add categories when there is real content to support them.

Apply the lesson

Start with titles people can search for, summaries that describe the task, and a small set of meaningful tags. Connect detail pages to related resources. Test whether someone can find an appropriate resource from both a category and a plain-language query.
