Animate UI provides animated primitives built around existing component foundations. Use it when you want those primitives’ interaction behavior with a coherent motion vocabulary.
When it helps
It is a useful option for a React interface that already uses a supported primitive library and needs animated dialogs, tabs, menus, or similar controls. Check the current documentation for supported libraries, package versions, and peer dependencies.
Start with one interaction
Choose a control that benefits from motion. Follow the official installation guide, use the primitive’s documented parts, and preserve its accessible title, description, keyboard behavior, and focus handling.
Do not migrate every existing component just to animate a new library page. Scope new styles and providers so unrelated screens keep their behavior.
What to verify
Test opening and closing, quick repeated activation, keyboard navigation, small screens, and reduced motion. A library’s accessibility support does not eliminate the need to label and compose your own interface correctly.
